If you have a restraining order, how does the person it is against get a copy?

I just got a restraining order that keeps someone away from me and my family. But, was wondering how they will get a copy and know about it? Also, on their job they have to carry a gun. How does a restraining order for harassment affect a police officer (he is one).

they have a sheriff deliver it. they bang on the door if they suspect someone is home , he'll hear it

A Restraining Order is served upon the person at work, at home, or by certified mail.

Has to carry a gun, will not be affected unless; restraining order was for Domestic Violence, or use of weapon, or a Restraining Order that constituted violence.

The police knock on the door and give it to them. It can affect the ability to carry, own a firearm, depends on the state and what the signing judge stipulates.
