I have a 2007 Silverado and the lights flashed and the horn honked like my alarm should be working, but it wasn't. The place that installed my remote start ( a very reputable company) They finally had to put an over-ride system in my truck to activate the alarm system.I was just trying to make people aware to bump their vehicle to see if the alarm actually works. Several people that I know--- It had disabled their alarms also. They found out the alarm was not working when the vehicle got hit and the alarm did not go off.

  1. Yes, it will over ride the security system while the vehicle is running.

  2. I can use my keyless remote to activate my alarm.

Perhaps the battery in your keyless remote is no longer working.

See about getting a new battery for it.

  3. It depends on how the system was wired when installed.  I can use the remote start on my car and the door alarm is still active until switched off.
