If you have a website idea what kind of patent would you need or it woubld be just a copyright patent and how much would it cost

  1. Ideas cannot be copyrighted. Only hardcopy stuff. You create something. Upon creation, you automatically own the copyright for 70 years.

    Now, since it's a web design, it will probably change as you make changes to it, thus making your original copyright pretty useless because you're no longer using it.

    To protect yourself, you should make a copy of your website and email it to yourself. That established your date of creation and, thus, the date of your copyright.


  2. You don't need a patent for a website, that's for inventions. For a website copywright as soon as it's published it's your intellectual property. You can formalize this with a copyright. That's $50.
