If you have an overdraft in your bank and then put money right away, will the bank report?

I totally wasn't watching my bank account and got an overdraft fee, a soon as I saw it i put money right away in (ASAP). As long as I do that will I be fine or will the bank report me to a credit bureau for having an overdraft?

  1. I don't know about being reported to bureau for an overdraft, but you'll have to pay the fee.


  2. Overdrafts will not affect your credit score (ie: not reported to credit bureau) unless it gets to the point of going to collections. What it might affect at least in the near-term is your chances of success if you were to apply for a mortgage or car loan and they asked for your bank statements.

  3. Nah...they aren't going to report you. They would if the account remained in a debt position for a long time and they weren't able to collect from you but you did the right thing and right away...you're fine. Take a deep breath! ahhhh

  4. That's kind of risky. For many business, any transaction is pretty instantaneous - even checks. When stroke a check and give it to the cashier at a store, the money will be deducted from your account.

    If you drop a check in the mail to a business, you then have a chance to drop some money in the bank before the mail delivers it.

  5. Banks dont report NSF to credit bureaus.
