We're looking at buying a house that has asbestos siding and I was wondering if you had to get someone special to replace it or if it could be replaced by anyone who does siding. I'm just bored, so I thought I'd ask on here.

  1. It doesn't need to be replaced.  If you just reside over it it is sealed in and no hazard.

If you want it removed it could cost as much as $10,000 dollars.  You need to check it out before you purchase.

  2. Asbestos dust is the hazard. The professional are expensive and careful. The homeowner can do anything he/she wants - and probably dispose of the stuff anyway they want. Call a siding company to check prices - they will know what they are looking at.

  3. That's real bad stuff.I wouldn't do it even with protection.

A professional siding man will know how to identify it and take the necessary measures.good luck.
