Question

if it applies to you (if you have either one)

do you like your AUDI A3 or your V W JETTA? and if you have problems with yours please tell me why and how often, what kind of problems, are they common among those or any other helpful info. i am trying to let my parents get me the A3, i like it better, but the jetta will do as well if they say no. and do the AUDI's you have had in the past have problems a lot or require a lot of maintenence? please tell me!!!

I own an Audi A4 (since 2000).  The car is very nice to drive.

But the maintenance is very expensive.  The car design is very convoluted so everything takes longer (more labor charge) for simple fix.  And most non VW/AUDI specialist cannot work on them.

I would NOT buy another Audi (or VW) again.  But if you plan just buy it and just hold it for few year during the warranty (and few more years after warranty - mostly problem free years) and sell it BEFORE problems starts in, then it might be OK as you would be mostly problem free.  

But that is NOT how you squeeze every penny's worth of value out of a car.

I don't own either, but my friend has a jetta.  I just wanted to let you know that it has ZERO leg room in the back.  even behind somone who is 5'5.  If you plan on driving a lot of people around, that would be something you would want to think about.
