  1. Yes, you can.  The PGA Tour uses a local rule to disallow it during PGA Tour events.  The USGA allows its or at least used to allow it during the US Open.

  2. No. Only in matchplay can you do over.

  3. I would have thought that no practice would be allowed. But rule 7.2 is quite clear that you can practice putting or chipping in designated areas. Practice swings are allowed at any time as long as it is not in violation of another rule.

Just remember, violation of rule 7.2 is two strokes on the next hole.

  4. Between the play of two holes a player may practice putting or chipping on or near the putting green of the last hole played, any practice putting green, or the next teeing ground of the next hole to be played, provided it doesn't unduly delay play. USGA Rule 7.2

  5. No

  6. yes, in stroke play you CAN practice putt IF the committee deems it alright. As long as there is no delay to the group behind you.

  7. My understanding is that you can only do that in match play.  If it is a stroke play competition (which a stableford is) then you would not be allowed to.

  8. No you can't; it's only in match play as long as there is not a group waiting behind you to play.
