  1. Unfortunately, no. You will still have to take the drugs that you've been on for a while. Another round to make sure it's under control. My father had a liver transplant. He had the liver transplant and in 2 years it was full blown bad again plus he had serous of the liver. He didn't take very good care of himself.  And while he was still waiting on a 2nd transplant he passed away.

I hope that telling you this isn't in anyway going to get you down. Women have a higher remission rate than men when it comes to this illness. My father did intravenous drugs in the late 70's/early 80's and they didn't catch it until the late 90's. It rampant by the time he diagnosed.

Take care of the liver you get, do what your doctors say, and you'll be just fine.

  2. Yes, because HCV is a blood disease. HCV needs the liver to reproduce, thus causing liver disease.

Usually, after a transplant, a person will be placed on anti-rejection drugs as well as interferon and ribavirin (or an equivelant type treatment).

Treatment works for many people- even  in some with a liver transplant.

If you end up being sustained, the virus is basically unable to reproduce anymore, thus no further damage to a new liver, but you will always carry antibodies.

    I wish you much wellness!

  3. I've had HCV for many years, two years ago I had a liver transplant.  What I have been told is that the HCV, although in my blood, has not yet attacked my new liver.

I have been told that this is a common thing to happen, but I am fortunate so far.  I believe that HCV is not a death sentence, but you must chance your way of living.

  4. Yes you will there is no getting rid of it
