  1. WELL OF COURSE ITS UNUSUAL FOR MEN TO REACH THE AGE OF 45 THINK ABOUT IT. AFTER THEY FINISH SCHOOL THEY ARE SEGREGATED INTO JOBS BY THE COUNCIL, THEY WORK FROM THERE ON OUT DOING WHATEVER JOB THEY ARE ASSIGNED TO, AFTER THEY CAN WORK NO MORE THERE SENT TO A HOME WHERE THEY SOON AFTER DIE. Anyway their worked to death so to speak. It's not a bad book. read it.

  2. 1.  Men were worn out by the age of 40, probably due to poor living conditions, poor health care, and no joy in living.  When they were sent to the Home of the Useless, they lost the will to live because they now had no purpose.

    2.  Suicide for people who could not fit in, especially if they figured out what was missing.

    3.  Execution for people who spoke the unspeakable word.

    4.  Men not suited for their assigned jobs aging prematurely or dying in work-related accidents.
