What exercise is best if you have both of these diseases, as I have OK in different parts of the body.

RA in feet, knees, hands, fingers and toes and OA in hips, spine and neck.

  1. I've had OsteoArthritis for about 20 years which led me to train as an Osteopath.

One of my college projects was to devise an exercise program for people diagnosed with RA.

I was surprised to find that the exercise advice for OA and RA is virtually identical.

Non weight bearing exercises will put your joints though their range of motion will strenghten the muscle around them.

Swimming and cycling are good examples of this.

Pilates isn't none weight bearing but only requires you to support the weight of your body and you may also find this helpful.

The rule of the thumb really is 'use it or loose it'

When the RA is in an actrive inflamatory phase excessive exercise will stir it up and aggravate it more but once the inflamation has settled down this is the time to do the exercise.

The key is not to do too much or again this aggravates the tissues and might contribute to the inflamation.

  2. Walking, Swimming, Tai Chi.

  3. RA is a disease of inflammation in joints. Hypo adrenal is the main cause of this disease. medicines have very low effect in this disease. Hydrotherapy has direct control on glands and organs ,so it has direct way to stimulate adrenal gland by way of which RA is brought under control,if the fingers of limbs r twisted then it takes longer period of treatment otherwise it can be brought under control within few months. The treatments are drug less treatments no side effect is there.
