If you have satellite cable do you still need and HD converter for you T.V. in 2009?

I want to sell my T.V. to buy an HD tv. but not sure if I even have to if I have satellite cable. Help!

  1. Nope.  You can pick up an HD Convertor for Over-The-Air HD Channels for free if you don't want to pay for them through Satellite.


  2. It's not an HD converter. You're confusing HD with digital. The change is going from analog to DIGITAL. NOT HD. YOU DO NOT NEED TO BUY A NEW TV! If you get one of th converter boxes, it will change the digital signal, back to analog so that your tv can display it. Although High Definition is DIGITAL, not all Digital transmissions are high definition. That being said, if you have satellite, you have absolutely nothing to worry about, nor need to buy anything. DirecTV/Dish already transmits in digital. Your satellite receiver does all the converting that you will ever need. Don't waste your money on an HDTV if you don't need it. If you WANT one, that's different, but you are not required to buy one with the digital switch.
