I would just like to know what people who have experience with both think of pricing, service, and selection.

  1. I've done more shopping at Lowe's -because that's the one in our town.  I have driven the 40 miles to shop at Home Depot several times, but it's only if I can't get what I'm looking for at Lowe's.  I've found their pricing to be pretty competitive.  The service isn't A+ at either, but my experience has been better at Lowe's.  As far as selection. . . since most of my shopping is more cosmetic or decorative, it's pretty much a toss-up.  Lowe's seems to be more aesthetically appealing - Home Depot more "warehouse" style.

  2. Lowes shelves are more organized, stores are much cleaner and staff is a bit friendlier, not always knowledgeable but try to be of help. However Home depot seems to hire staff more knowledgeable about the particular department, such as previous pluming, electrical, gardening experience that are able to answer your questions. So my advise would be, if you need expert advise on your project, go to Home Depot. If you know exactly what you need and how to do it, go to Lowes where you can go in find it fast and get out.

    Good Luck,  ;-)

  3. I like Lowe's much better than Home Depot. I bought a lamp at Home Depot. It never worked right. I finally took the part that turns it on & off in to get one exactly like it. They didn't have it. I bought a food freezer and it's not up to par. Anything

that I have bought at Lowes has been a good product and they have a better staff.

  4. Around here, there isn't much difference in any of those areas between the two stores.  But we usually go to Lowes because there are always coupons out.
