If I ran a mile, I'd be exhausted, and then I'd be easy to beat up.

  1. This happened to me - so I can tell you.

I have always been a good sprinter, but hopeless at longer distances. I ran 100 and 200 metres for my school against differnt schools when I was 13-16yrs. In a (1.5Km) 1 mile race I'd often walk/trot the last 500metres - I was so tired.

I was 22 and went over to a pub in Tottenham with a mate. I had moved to London the year before from a town. There was a cross word at the bar over some girls with some other lads , but we thought nothing of it. (we'd starting chatting to these girls which they had their eye on)  Some other guy got involved, but I never really knew what was said. We just ignored it. When we left the pub at closing time, there were these 5 outside waiting for us. One of them clearly had a hammer in his hand. Others had things in their hands, but couldn't see what ,it was dark. We just ran in direction of my mates car parked in next street with them chasing. As we got to car there wasn't even time to get in it we had to keep running. But my mate was on the path and I was in the road. Thats how he ended up going down one street and I carried on. I looked round and 3 of them were behind me, running quite fast. Thats when I applied my sprinting skills - I turned up the speed and flew down this road, across a car park, into another road. I looked over my shoulder and saw they were still chasing, but further behind. I didn't know where I was - I kept running hard and fast - way past any distance I'd normally cover at that speed. Believe me - adrenaline cuts in and it really works (The Fight or Flight Response). I remember going over a flat grassed area and into a housing estate. I was still flying, but knew my energy was going to fade soon. I saw some garages with little gaps around them and darted into a dark gap. Totally out of breath, heart pounding I tried to listen, by holding my breath briefly, but my lungs were desperate for air. Nothing happened, I started to get my breath back and came carefully out the dark alley and looked across and I could see them walking back away from me. I watched walk back into the distance. I waited for a bit - then headed back myself. I was totally lost, I didn't know where I was, but vaguely recognised where I'd run. As I walked back, I couldn't believe the distance I'd covered. It took me half an hour to walk back, so I reckon I'd probably run flat out about one and half miles. Something I could never normally do. I had much more adrenaline on my side, they didn't. I'm sure that saved me from a kicking or worse.

When I got to my mates car - I had to wait for about an hour before he showed. Seemed he'd run much further than me and wasn't taking any chances. We laughed so much - the after affect.

So - don't underestimate the power of fear and the Fight or Flight Response - it gives you an edge and showed me I could run further than in trials.

  2. Does a fox out run a rabbit or Does the rabbit out run the fox.

One is running for his dinner.

The other is running for their life.

you don't have to run far to lose them.

Run tilll you loose sight of them then Hide ?

  3. It depends on how badly they want to attack you.  If they're on something like PCP they'll chase you for miles even if their legs are broken.  It's true, despite how far-fetched it sounds.  My advice...start jogging.  Alot.

  4. That's not up to you, but your atackers

  5. i live in north dakota. come here. we'r lyke the tooth fairy of america..no one really knows we exist

plus we'r lyke the 2nd safest state to live and most people would wanna help you out-we'r just that nice

  6. they'll chase you til they get tired. so make a lot of short cuts and try to go into someones house that they don't know of and hide and call the cops. stay there if it's safe

  7. Until I get into a yard with a good-sized dog that knows me.  Dogs that I make friends with (most animals like me--except for parrots. lol) HATE when people mess with me, even if we're just goofin around.  ;-)

And to the original poster:  Well if you can barely run a mile, I'd suggest workin out so that even running 2 or 3 miles is eventually nothin to you.

  8. Never run in a straight line

Get as many bends as you can

Go around as many corners as you can

Cover as much ground as possible

AND it depends on how much you owe them and what you did to upset them to want to kill you and how badly they want to kill you

  9. Hi there

Depends what the purpose of the attack was?

Sometimes to hide is the best form of defence!

    best wishes

    idai

  10. Dont matter how far you can run but how fast you can run :)

Just spit at em and say you have hepatitis, its worse than aids as it can be transmitted through saliva as well.

  11. I would suggest avoiding the conflict altogether.

  12. Run to somebody's house, pretend you live there.

  13. No one really knows as it is situational. If you are really a better than average runner your attackers are going to be winded if they overtake you. Most attackers will not likely leave their neighborhood. I know this from personal  experience. For some  they get out of their comfort zone when they are away from their familiar ground. If you are done in after a mile of running than you need to train harder.

  14. If you'd be exhausted after running a mile - do some roadwork!

It would all be dependant on how fit your attackers were, how mad they were and your environment.  Generally speaking they'd probably give up after a block or so.

Saying that I did get chased from Anfield to Lyme Street in Liverpool  when I was a kid by some irate Liverpool fans....

  15. Well, given the question, I'd assume they'd chase me until they caught me.

  16. climb a tree, when he passes, back track and go in the opposite direction.

  17. never underestimate the power of adrenaline. you would run longer, faster and harder then you ever have in your life

  18. depends on who they are. However most attackers want easy prey, so if you out distance them they'll probably give up.
