**Thanks for your help. Here is the whole question..."If dyeing t shirts with the Protura yarns at 100 degrees for 90 minutes, now we must calculate the energy saving of btu we have saved."

  1. It depends on many things.

    I would look at what heating system is used. If you have a burner then you can use btu and measure how much liquid you have and how long it takes to raise the temp by 1 deg F.

    To keep it at 100deg C you don't need to apply that much heat unless your ambient temp is very low and your container large and open. If you have a sealed container you can insulate it and keep it at 100 deg C for a long time without adding much heat at all.

    If you want to measure a saving you always need to have original data in btu and then make your alterations and then measure in the same way.

    If you want to save energy insulate your pipes and your tank and lid and have a good control system.


  2. you are not saving, you are using BTU.

    How much is unknown, need a lot more data to make that calculation.
