  1. Yeah...no.  Sorry.  It'd be nice, though.

In some states (MN, maybe another couple) I believe you can take the educator credit, but it's only something like $100-200.

However, because the government doesn't give me one red cent, they also don't stick their noses in what we do - and they don't tell me how I "have to" educate my son.  Quite frankly, for the little bit of taxes I'm not getting credited on, that's completely worth it.  :)

  2. As of right now, no. That would be nice though, to at least be able to deduct supplies and curriculum. I ask EVERY year if anything has changed and so far it hasn't.

    Have a great night.

  3. No. We still pay the same taxes as everyone else, and the same ammount still goes to public schools, just like any other individual. Even people who send their kids to private school or don't even have kids pay the same taxes.

  4. Nope.

  5. No tax break, and most veteran homeschoolers will tell you that it's better this way.

When the gov't gets involved in homeschoolers lives, it always results in more regulations and "oversight."

I would much rather forgo the tax break than have the state control my child's education.

Rather than wanting a tax break, take advantage of educator's discounts available to homeschoolers.    http://www.bellaonline.com/subjects/5851...

    All the best.

  6. no,  why would you

  7. No, no, and no. You don't get any tax breaks. You still pay your taxes to the school system and get no tax break for homeschooling.

  8. No, I wondered this when we began home schooling the first time, 7 years ago.  I did some research and found out that, despite paying school taxes (which I do not begrudge), there is no tax break for people who choose private or home schooling.  I think that a set tax deduction of something like $250 per child would be fair.  I think if you could write off various school supplies, many people would take advantage and it would be in no one's interest, especially the children's.

Currently there is no break, but some school districts will let you use books, and some will allow home schoolers to participate in sports and other extracurricular activities.

  9. Nope, I pay school taxes and purchase my own curriculum...how crazy is that?
