If you jump in a pool, when its cold out, is it possible to get any diseases?

So its april out, i live in new york, we opened our pool, its freezing, but i have jumped in it for fun. is it possible to get sick or anything from jumping in this pool? could i get any diseases?

  1. the initial shock/ reacton you get from jumping into cold water is perfectly normal.. and it's now proven that being cold has nothing to do with catching one. As many hardcore winter swimmers can attest (myself included) repeated exposure to the cold water actually promotes circulation, lowers blood pressure, and boosts the immune system, resulting in less severe symptoms when exposed to a cold/ virus/ infection..if it was a one time thing, jumping into the icy waters.. then you might have a sniffle, as your body isn't sure how to react.. but it will clear up in a day or two.


  2. nope, take it from some one who's been jumping in pools for years, you only get shocked, not static, more like a cringey feeling and if the water is REALLY cold then you might catch a cramp.

  3. only if there's bacteria/viruses in the pool. gross. why would the temperature affect anything?
