  1. it will use energy, but if you're fine with warm air being blow on you then feel free to use it, it is better than using the ac and fan.

  2. The fan uses much less energy than the compressor for the air conditioning.

  3. You are merely using the fan in the unit when the AC mode is off.  Just the same as any other fan, which is a definite energy savings over the AC.

And if you need AC, the most efficient use of energy is to use portable window units instead of a central air unit.  That way you can limit your AC usage to one room.

  4. Using just the fan on an air conditioner should just cost you the amount of money that it takes to run a fan by itself.

Most air conditioners have thermostats which determine when the air conditioner goes on and off. You will save considerable money by raising the temperature setting.

Newer air conditioners are usually more energy efficient than older ones. There is an energy rating on each new air conditioner. Sometimes it pays to get rid of the old one and buy a new one . You should also have an air conditioner that produces enough cold for the size and other aspects of your room. having too few or too many BTUs is expensive. Now that summer is coming to an end there should be sales on air conditioners.

    Keep cool.

  5. The fan motor is very small compared to the AC Compressor.

    It uses much less power.

  6. Air conditioners use a compressor and it takes electricity to run the compressor.  It takes the compressor to make the air cold so if you just want the fan blowing and not the air getting cooler then the air or fan only setting will use a little less electricity but won't cool the air just blow it around.  If that is enough, go for it.
