seriously wouldn't you hide your crime instead of parading it about? am i the only one who thinks these so-called sightings are hoaxes?

Every time there is a development reported by the media there will be a spate of "sightings". Whether these are genuine people trying to be helpful or nutters deliberately hoaxing is anybodys guess.

Personally, i think the poor child died the same day she went missing or, at the latest, just after the police announced the flaw in her eye which couldn't be hidden.

No I would keep her under wraps until the timing is right for me to do with her what I had originally wanted to do with her. If I kidnapped her to keep for myself then she would be going nowhere but in my home. Until she is old enough and her appearance had change enough to  not make anyone figure out who she was. Now that is just me. Their are a lot of crazies in the world, and they don't have the mind to think rationally. So as for the sightings being hoaxes, I would check into every last one. That is what investigative reporting is all about.

Maybe they are hoaxes but every sighting should be investigated as maybe one could just be genuine and how are we to know which is which. I like to see all sightings as at least it means the public out there are still looking for her.

When there is a huge reward on the table, it's likely that many sightings will be reported. Despite what the McCanns' spokesman would have us believe, the Portuguese police investigated each sighting diligently and they were all dismissed.

all these sightings and not one person has taken the initiative and grabbed the girl or cause a fuss until the police come.Are we to believe that maddie is still missing because people are too polite to challenge her abductors

Hoaxes, or delusional perhaps. Lots of people are just attention seekers and will make a huge fuss because they saw a child that kinda, sorta, maybe, just about looked like Madeleine. Face it, if Madeleine was abducted and is still alive, her captors would certainly not be parading her around in urban areas in broad daylight, unless they actually WANT to get caught.

And that thing in Holland about the girl saying her name was Maddy. Wouldn't an abductor have at least given her a false name? In fact, before she went missing Madeleine was NEVER referred to as "Maddie" - the tabloids made that up so it would fit into headlines better. So it sounds completely bogus.

Sightings of Madeleine soon after she went missing might have had some credibility, but we've reached a stage now where these things are on a par with Elvis sightings. She's in Holland, oops no she's on a Carribean island, oh wait a second here she is in Belgium! Anyone would think she was on a world tour the way she keeps popping up everywhere.
