MS runs in my family and I am afraid if I had my daughter tested for it and it came back positive I would be depressed forever, knowing that this was going to happen to her, when there is nothing I can do to stop it. Should I just not get her tested and let her get tested on her own when she is older. Or should I get her tested so we both know.

  1. I wouldn't,but that is just me.If she started showing symptoms,I would think about it then.

  2. I'd get her tested.  I'd rather know either way than wonder the whole time.

Besides, by the time symptoms start to surface- there might be medical technology to help or cure it.  You never know.

  3. You wouldn't love her less either way. There are pros and cons to either situation, but you'd have to weigh the odds. If you knew, could you start any sort of medication regimen to delay the effects and reduce the painful side effects? If you didn't know would you stress and wonder every day? You need to do what is best for you and what is best for your daughter.

  4. Don't worry about it at all.  If she begins to develop symptoms of MS, then deal with it.
