  1. alright... so with an electric guitar, it's pretty essential to have an amp... you can find a small 10 or 15 watt one for less than 100 bucks... no need to go with something real big because most likely you are just playing for your enjoyment and not playing shows or anything... there is an input into the amp for a large cord.  its bigger than a headphone jack.  i'd say your best bet though, since it sounds like you are just starting up you might wanna try a bundle thing that would come with a guitar, amp, cables, gig bag, tuner... pretty much everything you would need.

something like this would be good http://www.guitarcenter.com/Ibanez-IJX12...

but heres a link that has a bunch of them and you could pretty much take your pick.

good luck with a new guitar.

  2. You need an amp.

  3. it is a plug like headphones on a ipod and i dont noe if you need amp or speakers

  4. I think your best bet is to go to a music store and try out the guitars.  That way you can see and handle the instruments and get an idea of what you're up against.

The cable is a guitar cable that goes into an amplifier or direct box.  You can get speakers of varying power ratings, depending on if you want to play for a large or small audience.  The best idea is to try out different configurations to see what type of sound you like.
