  1. When I did TKD and WC in my younger years, my first thought was always "How do I maintain distance, and how do I get to his centerline?"

Now with years of Judo, a bit of BJJ, and a couple of fights behind me, it's "How do I close the distance on that guy, and should I double leg or osoto-gari to drop him?"

    It's funny how that changes.

  2. In casual conversation I think about taking him down and pounding his face in. That's normal isn't it?

  3. When I look at someone who wants to fight, I instantly think of a great lawsuit and a great way to make money :)

  4. Actually, the more I learned to fight, the more I realized how many people out there are better than me.  I'm a second degree black belt in Kenpo, and feel I can defend myself.  But I only train now about two hours a week.  Some people do that a day (or even twice that).  You don't know who they are, either.  A guy who looks harmless may be a more experienced or talented fighter than you.

I am more confident, despite all that I said, but I don't predict how a fight would go.  Every situation is different, and requires different actions.

  5. when I get pissed.

  6. Actually I got calmer after learning martial arts. I mean I ended up defusing situations w/o violence while earlier I might have fought, and I did that w/o losing face. Our culture compells us to "act like a man", and by that it means to fight. Once you know you can kick a dudes @$$ without a problem, you're like, yeah I see this idiot talking smack but I'm smarter than him, I KNOW I cant beat that @$$, so why should I? Just lead to trouble. Now once I got jumped about a year in my Krav training by 2 dudes, and it was like a snap in the mind and a warning kick to one of the dudes, knee put an end to it. The second guy tried to advance and I didnt back down, held my fighting stance, the idiot turns around and leaves talking all the S**t.
