If you leave a hospital against medical advice, does insurance still generally pay for the time you were in?

In other words would I be stuck with the bill?

  1. Sometimes yes you can get stuck with the bill.  Especially if you were in ER department and then left without getting treatment or diagnosis.

    They almost never will pay for a return trip, if your symptoms reappear.


  2. Hmm...I'm not sure about the other answers, but I know mine did.  I went to the ER with a massively infected piercing, and went through the triage.  After about four hours, I had to get home and get to bed, so I could get up in time for work the next day, so I had to leave.

    The bill for triage was less than $50, and it was covered by my insurance.
