If you live in Beijing, where would a good place be to watch the opening ceremony?

Aside from going to the actual ceremony, where can I find a good place to go? Thanks!

personally i'll just be sitting at home and looking out of the window for the fireworks... it's usually not that safe with THAT many people there. even though it's heavily gaurded.

i just got an LCD 37 in so i'm set.

All the bars in Beijing are geared up for the mega event.Go to any bar in Huhai Lake area or the Sanlitun Bar Street where they have put up huge screens to display the Olympics.

Maybe on the roadside next to the stadium, you can see it well. You may not be able to see inside the stadium but you will get a feel of the atmosphere and watch the lights and sound plus the fireworks.

Alternatively I'm sure there be something going on in Tienanmen square.
