You're allowed to like whoever you want to like.  I live smack in between SF and LA.  

I'm a die hard Packers fan.  I love the Colorado Avalanche.  I don't like ANY California sports teams.

it dont matter where you live...you can live anywhere you want and like whoever you want dude...plus...theres a thing called RED SOX NATION if you know what that is =]

i dont think you have to like the home teams but when picking a team, i'd try to stay away from the bandwagon teams. if you have liked them since you've started watching sports or have some kind of connection to the bandwagon teams(know a player, work for them...) thats fine to cheer for them. but to like them for winning or being popular right now is not being a sports fan, what happens when they lose. do you like the next winning team? if you do that and have any friends that are die-hard sport fans, forget hanging out with them when sports are on. my family are eagles fans, my dad likes the cowboys out of spite. we won't let him watch in the same room or i will go to my friends house to watch so i don't have to hear c**p every five minuets. its no fun being around the bandwagon lovers. so choose wisely when picking a team to root for. it might get you friends or make people hate you.
