I herd from a friend if you loose the keys to your car and somebody found them. they can drive away with your car clean because the keys to your car are your responsibility. Since the car is gone there is no way to find out who stole it?

  1. You heard   WRONG!      No one has the right to take your property even if they find the keys.    No one ever has the right to use someone's property without getting permission first.    Report the car as stolen.

By the way,  your friend isn't too bright.   Maybe you need to find one with a brain.

  2. You could get the plate number and get the police to put an APB on it as stolen.

  3. If somebody found a set of car keys does not give them the right to take the car. that would be auto theft. Someone did steal my car keys and i pretty much changed the locks. it was expensive, but it gave me a piece of mind.

  4. Think a bit harder. If you find my lost wallet, does that make it yours? Of course not. Possession of keys has nothing to do with ownership of the car. You need a legal title transfer to take ownership otherwise you can be arrested for Felonious Auto theft!
