If you lose your licence on the tot up procedure from the DVLA?

ie 6 points or more inside 2 years aloud what happens when you pass your test again and get new licence ? Where do the points go? If they went on your brand new licence you would never be able to drive again would you?

  1. Sorry Duckie, but 6 points on a new licence inside 2 years and you don`t deserve one.


  2. Contrary to uninformed statements, you will be okay.  You start with a clean slate.

  3. Points can remain on the licence for a period after they are spent. It depends what the offence was.

    Usually they are on for 4 years from the date of offence for some offences, or 4 years from date of conviction for others. But drink driving, refusing to give a specimin, causing death etc will remain for 11 years from conviction. Only then may you apply to have a blank licence.

  4. You get another 2 years and are allowed 6 more points.

    Together with the 6 you already had = 12, over 4 years, which is what everyone else is allowed.

    The 6 pts in 2 years is merely a deterrent, to make you drive more safely so that you don't have to retake your test again!

  5. Most points will stay on your record for a minimum of 3 years................
