If you make a print of an original drawing, is the print considered an original?

Would the value be a lot lower than selling the original without making any prints? This is a graphite/charcoal drawing on acid-free medium weight lightly textured sketch paper.

  1. Only the original is the original, a print would be a copy & therefore not original.

    Yes the value would be lower.


  2. Yes the value will be considerably lower then the original. The reproduction cannot still be considered an "original" however you can print a certain amount of the piece and sell it as a "limited edition" like 2/100 (meaning the second print of a limited edition of 100). Signing the limited edition is also recommended. Limited editions can sell for a good price but not as high as the true original.
