If you named your child after somebody ... ?

A family member... because naming children after people I've never meant seems pretty stupid to me. I know people named after actors or singers and I think it's ridiculous. How do you think kids feel when they find out they were named after their parents favorite movie star?

To each their own...I,myself,would never name my children after a celebrity due to all their downfalls and I don't want my children being made fun of because of some celebrity acting dumb.

My second daughter's middle name is Elaine,after her paternal grandmother and we regret that decision everyday that she has her name in my daughters name(it seemed like a good idea at the time,don't ask why)

My oldest's middle name is after my Great Grandmother..I wanted to name her after a strong and lovely lady

My middle child has my moms name for her first name and her middle name is after her dad's grandma.  We honestly weren't planning on giving her my moms name.  HOWEVER, my mom kept making fun of all the names we were picking out...so we figured she can't make fun of her own name (and she's my best friend).  My ex wanted to name her after his grandma...so that became her middle name.

My youngest's middle name is his fathers first name.  It is tradition on my ex's side of the family to give the first born son his fathers name as a middle name.  NOT my choice, but I wasn't about to mess with tradition.

I've always wanted to name a baby boy Dorian James...The first name being my uncle's and the middle name being my fiance's.  As for a girl, I named my first daughter Kristan after my two friends, Krystan and Kristin.

family. It has sentimental values. My oldest sons first name is his dads name. My 2nd sons first name was to be similar to my husbands mother who passed b/c we weren't planning on having any more kids and his 2nd middle name is after my grandpa who passed. Then came my daughter who is after my mother in law who passed, my grandma who passed, and our other grandmas along with my first name.

1.  Mark (his dad)   Dakota (always loved- part of my heritage)

2. Kasey (similar to Kay) Alexander(liked) Murray(my grandpas middle name)

3. Kaylee (mother in law and grandma) Christina(my first) Mae (other grandmas)

It is really kinda funny because both of his grandms middle name is Mae and all of my maternal grandmothers is Mae and paternal grandmothers are Lee.

k this is kinda different and how I came to name my son.  Sorry if this is kinda long winded, ill try to keep it short

My husband and I had no idea even where to begin with names when I was pregnant.

we went to visit his step dad in OK when I was about 4 months pregnant.  we went to a restaurant and had a real sweet waitress.

during the course of the meal, we started talking,.. turns out she had 2-3 kids... her oldest, was around 7 or 8.  he had a very rare disease and probably would not live past his 10th bday.

But, she told us that he knew he was going to die and told her that God needed him in heaven to help the angels and he would always look out for him and his siblings.

we were left speechless.

Before we left I asked her his name...Nicholas Alexander....

when my husband and I got to the car we looked at each other and i said to him,.,  I know what our sons name is gonna be... my husband nodded and said, absolutely!
