I use a calling card (3 cents/min) with my phone line that I have to have with DSL. So where is the savings? I still pay fees as 911, etc.

  1. It's for people who already have High-Speed Internet.

If you don't already have Internet, then weigh the costs of Internet service against your monthly "long distance" phone bills.

Once you already have HS Internet, then there are "dozens" of services that allow you to make free and cheap calling over Internet.  MagicJack is only one of many services to choose from.

For people who do a lot of long distance calling, there is significant savings to be had by using Internet VoIP services.

Your 3 cent/min calling card rate is a good rate..... assuming there are no other monthly fees attached?

There are many Pay-As-You-Go VoIP services that have no monthly fees.  And, if you call PC-PC, all calls are free.  Not just with MagicJack, but virtually all VoIP services provide for free In-Network calling between account holders.

  2. You get saving if you are already having to pay for DSL (or any other type of broadband). There is not much point in getting Magic Jack if you don't already have broadband.

If you already have a broadband connection, then there is no extra cost for using Majig Jack.
