  1. In no particular order:

    -variety of microscopes available (dissecting, electron, phase contrast, etc.)

    -ancillary equipment such as lasers, tissue culture facilities, and preparation space.

    -computer facilities

    -obviously digital capture is important, but conventional film cameras are a bonus

    -GOOD tech support, specifically a Digital Imaging Specialist. When writing my M.Sc. thesis our Imaging Specialist saved me 100's of hours by assisting with my photographs. A pro in this field will make any department or facility that specializes in microscopy.
