I have a maximumn budget of $2,000 per month to spend and I can take 6 months off to travel

I am 41 and not really inclined to 'rough it' too much. Not expecting luxury on my budget, though. $2K per month must cover everything for the 6 month duration

I love gorgeous ocean and sand

Need to get away following a bad relationship year.

I am a Brit and I live in California. I have full legal permanent residency in the USA and a full British passport.

I don't drive so I wouldn't do so at any destination.

Where would you go? Any ideas?

  1. I'd come right here to the virgin islands.

Far away enough to get away from your past.

Close enough to go back in a day's notice.

    Sand and oceans.  Check.

Beautiful girls not wanting to commit.  Check.

    Drinking age 18.  Check.

    US AND British territories.  Check.

    Friendly, perpetually inebriated locals.  Check.

In St. John, hitching is legal and safe.

Good luck on your new path!...

  2. I'd like to recommend the beaches along the Pacific side of Costa Rica or Panama.  Both are great.  Local transportation sources are very available in those countries since many locals do not have cars.  buses, small aircraft and shuttle van services can get you anywhere you need to go.

I like the 'Lonely Planet' travel book series for specific destinations.  Get the book at Amazon or go to Barnes and Noble bookstore to get some ideas.  $2,000 a month should do just fine in those locations.

  3. I would think about traveling to Belize maybe, even Aruba, the Virgin Islands are nice.  If you want rest and relaxation, you should pick St. John or St. Croix.  St. Thomas is for those who want the hussle bussle and lots of shopping.  Also look into the British Virgin Islands.  They have some nice spots too.  So if I had the time and money, for sure those would be my picks!  Enjoy your travels...and I will be wishing I was where you will be!!!  :-)

  4. Costa Rica
