My husband is in a uhaul and pulling a car and he only has a quarter tank of gas with 70 miles left to get where he needs to go. Would he be able to make it? Or would i have to end up meeting him to give him gas money?

  1. A U-Haul plus a car would call for a large tank.

  2. It all depends.

If you are driving all on a highway, at a consistent speed, with AC off, you may scrape it in.

Towing a car will drop the economy of any vehicle. Quite considerably too. You have the excess weight, plus the reduction of aerodynamics.

If you have to go through towns, up hills, red lights, ac on, constant speed changes, etc, I dont think you will make it.

  3. U-Haul trucks seem to have around 400-420 mile range on a full tank.  There are variables that may lower this range such as cargo weight and towing a vehicle.  However, these trucks are geared for this type of work, so I would imagine the mpg might not be too adversely affected.

Assuming an accurate fuel gauge, at 1/4 level and mostly highway driving, you should be able to get around 100 miles before you run out of fuel.

  4. unless you drive under 60mph you could make it and then give him gas money

  5. How far did he drive on the first 3/4 tank?  Just figure out how much he got on each 1/4 tank, and hope that the last 1/4 tank will give him the same.

  6. A full tank will generally travel 400 miles.

    He should be ok.

  7. i think he should be able to if i were u i eould go for it and if he runs out then u bring him gas money

  8. there are a few variables in this. One is what kind of roads is he traveling on? Are there traffic lights? A lot of idling and going up hills can use more gas than flat road with no stops.
