  1. ye, they are supposed to send you a packet to fill out and return the form.

  2. If you had at least $3000 in 2007 from SSDI, reported it on a tax return, and are not a dependent, then yes you qualify.

Since one of your other questions says that you already filed, though, you'll need to file an amended return on form 1040X.  On the back where it says explanation of changes, note that the ssdi number of your original return was incorrect, you actually received $xx, and add the line "please recalculate my stimulus payment."

  3. Yes you qualify, but you have to file a tax return even tho you owe no taxes.

  4. yes

  5. If it is Social Security and not SSI, you qualify.

  6. My understanding is that is you have regular Social Security Disability income, you can qualify for the rebate.  However, if you have Supplemental Security Income (SSI), then you do not qualify for the rebate.

    From the IRS web site:

Economic Stimulus Payments: Information for Recipients of Social Security Benefits

    Updated March 12, 2008

This section is for people who receive Social Security retirement or disability benefits. The IRS and Treasury will be working closely with the Social Security Administration to ensure that all eligible individuals know what to do to receive a stimulus payment.

Normally, certain Social Security payments are not subject to income tax. However, the economic stimulus law passed in February contains a special provision allowing Social Security recipients to count those benefits toward the qualifying income requirement of $3,000 and thereby qualify for the stimulus payment.

For eligible Social Security recipients who do not normally file a tax return, the IRS has prepared an 8-page informational package that provides instructions, a sample Form 1040A and a blank Form 1040A — everything needed to file the tax form today. See eligibility requirements below.

Supplemental Security Income (SSI) does not count as qualifying income for the stimulus payment.

  7. no you have to file for tax return.
