  1. You use the word Own. If you do actually own the top flat, you will probably find that you boundaries do not extend to the attic. Check with the council and perhaps the Freeby Lawyer. But don't hold your hopes as there are structural, planning  and more consents than would make it worthwhile involved.

  2. You will need to check the demise of the property; check the plans to see if it is actually your space or listed as part of the building unoccupied/communal space. You will then need to refer to the local council to see their regulations on high rise conversions. I'm not sure you need planning permission but better to check.

  3. All you need is to get a planning permission from your local housing office.

  4. You should be since you own the attic. Planning permission first.

  5. I would imagine that the actual block would belong to the council, therefore you probably wouldn't be allowed to do this. Unless perhaps there is an open roof hatch into the attic from your flat, then that possibly changes things. In any case though, you really ought to contact the council/management company for the block before doing anything!

  6. The attic may be shared - contact the council homesales section to see if you do own it - then submit a planning permision requestion to the council regarding the conversion.

  7. Yes i shouldn't think why not, but ask your local housing planning office before you start doing anything. They will be able to give you details on what you can and cannot do.
