If you pick up a phone call and its long distance does the phone company charge you ?

  1. No, only the person calling will be charged if your phone is a land line. If it's a cell phone, you'll be charged too.


  2. If you're talking about a land line, no.

    If you're talking about a cellphone, it will still count against your minutes for the month, but you're not charged any extra versus if it were a local call.

    All that just applies to US phone companies - I don't know how they do it in other countries, so if you're somewhere else just ignore me.

  3. Do you mean if you receive a phone call, and it was a long distance call, would you be charged? No, you wouldn't, only the person making the call is charged.
