I dont play for my school but I play otuside of school with private lessons like twice a week. Will that still like I guess "count" on my college resume or will it just be all together irrelevant?

  1. No, it doesn't count because you don't actually play on a team.  Even if you're taking private lessons, you aren't actually playing on a team, and if you put that you play on a college resume, they might think that you could play for them on their team, and that might give them the wrong impression.

  2. It will be good to get into a college team.

  3. It does count but it doesn't realy mean a lot to colleges because they might think that you know how to hold a racquet and thats it. If your on a team the colleges know where your at.

  4. What you can do, and this is what I did when I applied for college is attach a document to your college application if you can and list activities you have been involved in.  My friends and I faxed them to the University Office of Undergraduate Admissions.

You can add stuff like you have been taking piano lessons since you were 4 and now you like to compose your own songs. Or you were in boyscouts forever. active in youth group, volunteering, running marathons. So yes, you should list your interest in playing tennis since it wouldn't fit any where on college apps.

Our counselors recommended we do that. It worked for me. So good luck!
