if you punch with weights when should you expect your punches to get faster? with 5 pound weights in each hand?

  1. I ask the same question to my trainer and he said said that is not the way to speed up my punches so he designed a  programme for me. You have to lift heavy weights less reps its all about lifting fast,making your muscle explosive ( be sure to rest well in between each set ) i have been doing this for three weeks and it works, im not lighting fast yet but have seen an improvement  good luck


  2. No you will punch slower. The immediate effect might seem like your punching faster but your not. In order to punch fast you have to incorporate the fast twitch muscle fibers in your arms.

    For instance, if a pitcher lifts weights everyday will he eventually be able to throw a ball 90 miles an hour ? No, and why ? because when you lift you are strengthening your stamina and slow twitch fibers. Nothing wrong with this but the wrong muscles are being targeted. Using the pitcher analogy, have you seen what they use in Spring training for their arms ?

    They use the elastic bands religiously.

    With that said, you need to go to a gym and workout with a trainer.

    As far as exercises check on-line.
