    Soda pop gets its "fizz" from the decomposition of carbonic acid to carbon dioxide and water:

    H2CO3 -> CO2 + H2O

    The rate of this reaction depends on temperature. The warmer it is, the faster the acid will decompose into soda bubbles.

    This reaction can also be reversed if the pressure is increased. Soda water is made by injecting CO2 into a sealed vessel of water at high pressure.  Once the pressure is released, the acid will begin to decompose into CO2 again. This is why champaigne acts the way it does when uncorked.


  2. hot car, the heat will cause the gas to leave solution easier.
