Question:

If you put a switch on an antenna wire, and headphone wire to switch between the two... would it work?

I don't want to use a modulator anymore. Sound quality isn't very good. I've been told that because of the info (mpg, avg speed, oil life..etc) it shows, as well as the anti-theft device running off of it, I would have problems switching my radio out. Is there any way to put a switch on the antenna wire going into the back of the stereo to switch between two signals?

  1. You can't just run an audio signal into an antenna jack and hear the sound.  It has to be an FM radio signal.

It sounds like you've been using a wireless FM modulator.  Your best option is to upgrade to a hardwired FM modulator.  Here's an example: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_1047...

This device converts your headphone output to an FM signal, then connects it directly to your radio's antenna input.  The signal from the vehicle's FM antenna is cut off when the device is switched on, so it won't interfere with your sound quality.  This ends the constant static and interference, and the search for clear stations.

This device does require some installation.  Usually you have to connect it to the back of the factory radio at the antenna plug.  This may not be necessary on your vehicle, because newer Malibus have a junction in the antenna line that's more easily accessible behind the driver's end of the dash.  The device also needs to be connected to a power.

Another option is an auxiliary input adapter made for your vehicle, but they are not cheap:  http://www.autotoys.com/x/product.php?pr...

  2. what kind of car are you driving???

also  the radio should have nothing to do with the anti theft system.

  3. what exactly you want to do? what modulator was that?  between two signals? what signals are you referring to? Elaborate further and I can solve your question.
