Say you put 2000 lbs in the bed of your truck, such as what the tongue weight of a 5er would do, must you then check tire air pressure(cold) and adjust?

  1. Assuming that you are not exceeding the load limit of the truck and that your transmission can handle it, you probably should check the tire pressure and adjust.  Make sure that it is up to manufacturer's recommendation.

I used to drive a van on country roads selling welding rod and supplies to farmers.  I was always adding air to my tires.  I found out that an excessive heavy load can be hard on the vehicle's engine and transmission and hard on the tires.

  2. NO not if driving that much weight for less than 50 miles.  If going more than 50 miles then I recommend you do by 8 pounds.

  3. You should, but I have never seen anyone do it. You should add air and then let the added air out when you are done, but noone ever takes the time to do it.

  4. yes it is a good idea ,but be careful you could cause damage to your tire or yourself, don`t over do it.

  5. NO you dont because if you adjust your air pressure your tires might blow out when you are on the highway or freeway you want the recomended air pressure empty your truck only handal the recomended towing abilty if you a a 3 quater ton pick up and you put a ton on it a ton is 2000.00 pounds you are going to break somthing like your shocks and your frame would snap in half check your owners manual if you have a one ton duly and you have a trailer and you carrying a 2000.00 pounds a ton and you are empty and you check your air pressure and then you load a ton you are good to go and make shure you strap down your load 2 tie down per 10 feet

i have a class A CDL with Hazmats with Double and Tripple and tanker and motorcycle indorments

  6. If the truck is just a 1/2 ton then you cannot haul this but if the truck is a 3/4 ton or 1 ton truck then yes check your tire pressure when cold and then adjust as needed...
