  1. You don't have to pay it back, but depending on the grant it may require a specific outcome--you may receive a grant for a community-based project, for example, and you'll have to actually follow through with the project to be able to keep the money. If it's research, you'll have to come back with something documenting your findings. Things like that.

    Whoever issued the grant should have information about their guidelines. If it's just a Pell or MAP Grant, you just have to use it for school--it will go through the school's financial aid office to confirm the amount you need.

  3. No darling, whether it be for school or for homeownership. Grants are free money for the taking. But tsk tsk use them for the intended purchase not for shopping sprees!

    Bad News:  Outside of Pell Grants for education, the average person can not get a grant for personal expenses.
