  1. take some time out of your life and visit a landfill then find out every thing about them ..you'll have a better understanding of why we should recycle all we can....we are a wasteful society

  2. Yes but to dig up the ore, purify it, then to melt and shape the can cost much more.

Plus the earths' raw metal supply is finite so we can't afford to waste for ever.

Yes, we are a very wasteful society.

  3. I totally agree with the landfill issues and the wastefulness in our society.  This problem has led to me actually trying attempting to do something myself in the sense of making a website where people can swap or trade parts or list what they are looking for so that item doesn't end up at a landfill sooner than it should.  So many useful items are just thrown away because people are to lazy to reuse or recycle them while someone else out there may need what is being tossed out.  I hear that story all of the time so I am attempting to do something about it.  I figure a few items being saved is better than adding to the current mess in our landfills.

  4. Aluminium is produced from the ore bauxite using an extremly energy intensive method of electolysis.  Recycled aluminium is only melted.

  5. You're saving the mining/shipping/smelting energy.   Most bauxite comes from Australia.
