  1. It depends on the complex.  Many do offer an 18 or 24 month lease.

  2. usually they will have you sign another year lease or go month to month

  3. Absolutely. Even if you are only offered a one year lease you will have the option to renew when it expires (assuming you are a good tenant).

  4. When the lease is up, the landlord has the option to have you you sign another year lease or ask you to leave.

Sometimes he will continue to allow you to live there on a month to month basis. Basicly that is: if you pay your rent and dont cause any trouble; you stay. When you leave you give him at least 30 days ntoice and everything is fine

You can live in the same aptment for years if you are a good tenent, pay your rent on time and dont cause any trouble.  If your lucky & a good tenant he might not raise your rent every  year either. I lived in the same apt for 4 years. Never made a peep of noise, minded my business, pay my rent on time. Landlord didnt raise my rent a cent.

  5. A contract for more than a year's lease is illegal for the most part. You can renew a lease once a year has passed, and thereby continue to rent the same place for more than a year's time that way.

  6. Yes. You made a commitment for one year though so you HAVE TO stay for a year. After that, you can extend the lease or move out. If you are a good tenant then yes, you will be allowed to extend the lease. If you cause a lot of problems though then you cant.

    Hope that helped!!! :D

  7. Thats a common length for a lease.  It protects you and the landlord by assuring he'll have a tennant for at least a year (or you'd be breaking the lease) and you have a place to live for at least a year.  At the end of the year you both have the option of re-newing the lease for another year and on and on.

  8. have to ask where you live.  most will renew after the year if you haven't caused problems.

rented a house with a year lease then they went to a month to month lease.

  9. Most places will allow you to sign a 2 year lease.  Be sure that is what you want though.  You can get stuck with a lot of nasty fees and fines if you leave early.
