  1. You need to obey the laws on the street AND on the sidewalk!  Going the wrong way on a sidewalk is a very dangerous thing to do.  Cars that are pulling out of driveways and side street do not look to their right for bikers going fast on the sidewalk.  This habit has caused many fatalities and bad injuries. If you feel you have to use the sidewalk, go slower and be very careful of cars pulling out from side entrances, please!

  2. You obey traffic signs and lights not only to comply with the law, but also for your own safety. You are safest when you are riding in a predictable manner, doing things as the motorists around you expect. That includes obeying traffic controls as they must do.

  3. yes

  4. Of couse you do...why wouldnt you?? Unless you want to get killed.

  5. Yes-you have to obey all the same laws the cars do.  This includes using hand signals when you turn.  A lot of cyclists ride up beside cars to the front of the line at red lights...while I doubt you would ever get ticketed for this, it is illegal.  I bike to work everyday, and I maintain my place in the line of traffic at lights, as well and obey stop signs and all other laws.  When stopped at a light, I pull into the center of my lane and stay there until I am through the intersection (otherwise cars will pass you in the intersection and push you out) then I return to the side of the road on the other side of the intersection.

  6. Yes, you are not allowed to ride on the sidewalks!

  7. yes. and I have right of way to use as much of the lane as I need to ride safely. this meens you need to be patient, and wait until it is safe to pass me!
