Question:

If you saw a baby stroller in a park parking lot, would you steal it or try to turn it in?

I accidentally left my baby stroller in a town park's parking lot. I did not put it in the car after I took my baby out and I drove off. (I was a bit sleep deprived). When I discovered it missing, I went back to see if it might still be there, maybe someone kindly would have pushed it aside, under the pavillion. It was gone, of course. I contacted the town's Park and Rec in hopes someone honest might have turned it in. I even contacted the police to see if they might have it in their possession. What gives people the right to not TRY and be honest? There were options for that but someone chose to steal the stroller anyhow. I am just wondering what you would do if you saw an item like that? I just feel sorry for the child that is put in that stroller because their parent is such a low-lifer to be dishonest.

  1. I would have turned it in.  There are some people who will steal anything.  It's really sick and unfortunate.

  2. To be honest I would have just left it where it was, or, if it was raining i would have pushed it to the side.

i wouldnt have stolen it, i think it is so unfortunate that someone may have stolen it from you.

Good Luck in getting it back.

  3. This is commonplace where I am where people will steal right under your nose if you let them. I grew up in what so many people call a rich town. It was a small town too. I learned to just watch my stuff. I have to say that I'm a little disturbed that you are driving sleep deprived with a child too. Yikes. You can't assume that most people will do the right thing. I just have not found that to be true at all. But I will say that I live in a poorer city and I haven't had anything stolen from me here. Maybe it's because we live in a good neighborhood and people seem anti-social. (in general)

  4. i would have just left it where it was.  however I don't think it was "stolen".  You lost it and someone else found it.

  5. I would have turned it in, but if it was a park then it's not always obvious to people where to turn in lost items. Maybe they took it home for safe-keeping while posting an ad in the paper or contacting the appropriate park office to find out what to do.

Check the paper for a 'found' ad, then check back with the park. Maybe they've turned it in since you called them last. Offer to leave them your name/number just in case someone brings it in later.

  6. sorry i need points

  7. I'm sorry that happened to you - baby strollers aren't really cheap these days...if it makes you feel any better, I would try to turn it in. But that's probably because if I had a baby, I would have a job and my own stroller. The person who stole it probably is a poor mother or father who is desperate - still doesn't give them the right to steal your stroller, but that's probably why they did it.

  8. to be honest i would have just left it where it was,

thank goodness you got your child out before you drove off!

maybe it wasnt stolen and kids got hold of it and just played with it, maybe go back and search the parkto see if its been dumped, or ask again, if anyone has seen it

  9. Of course I would turn it in that's just stupid that someone would do that.  Why not check your local craigslist.com website and see if anyone posted it on the lost and found or you could even post a lost ad for free.  Just a suggestion

  10. I would leave it alone. This is a type item people will soon realize that they have left. Have you checked a local good will store maybe they took it there or to a home for abused women with children. If you can't afford to buy another stroller check the good will stores or a thrift store. As far as peoples behavior that is a very complicated question that none of us understand.
