  2. There is used as a pronoun, so it is the subject of your sentence.  The verb is is; an is an article, and apple is the predicate nominative--i.e. it is a noun that renames the subject.

  3. My guess would be "apple".  However, I don't think starting a sentence off with, THERE IS, is correct grammar.  Not sure on that one though.
