  1. Liable for what?

Don't tell me you let the person who bought your vehicle keep your plates and registration.

If you did and they get parking tickets or toll violations, then you will have to go through a lot of time and effort to prove you are no longer the owner of the car to the Secretary of state.

Never give a seller your plates or registration and always keep a copy of a bill of sale signed by the buyer that indicated they purchase the car on a specific date.

If you sold a car without a bill of sale and let them keep your plates and registration, you have a long headache ahead of you (if they didnt register the car).

  2. No.  Just keep your proof of sale just in case.

  3. As long as it was notarized out of your name and you sent it to the DMV it is out of your name. Doesn't matter if the buyer insures, registers it or not, you are not responsible for anything he or she does with it.
