Most definetly, as if you are within the first 30 days of initial contact (or live in TX, where the 30 day window does not apply) and send a demand to validate, they cannot continue ANY collection activity (including posting/verifying a listing with the credit bureaus) until the debt is validated. This is established in the FDCPA.

    Demand to validate letters are the most effective weapon for dealing with these sleazeball collection agencies.
