My mom signed a contract for FREE digital converters, and they DIDN'T work, so she returned them, but then later on they shut off our cable!!!

Why? Or are they allowed to? We didn't get cable from them, we were getting it for FREE from our apartment building, so why did they shut it off????!!!!

  1. If your sure it was comcast that shut off your cable, then my guess is that you should take it into court.

  2. This isn't adding up.

If a contact was signed I am assuming it was for cable services for a set period of time. If you stopped paying for the services, despite any greviences I assume they would cut off the cable service at some point.  A contract is normally a binding obligation; getting out of one can sometimes involve paying a fee.

Apartment setups can vary quite a bit, however in many cases the tennant has to arrange their own account with the cable provider for cable services. There are exceptions though.

It sounds like there may be some confusion over the "digital converter issue"; companies like Comcast use their own set top boxes to be used with their cable system; these have nothing to do with the DTV boxes being talked about that you will need by Feb 09 to receive "over the air broadcasts".  If the box didn't work then why didn't somebody ask Comcast to fix it?

Best to speak to Comcast about it to see what is going on.
