I am the parent of an 18 year old who just came home from college and told us he has joined the army. He said he would not start until January because he wants to finish one more semester at college. He has a 3.8 GPA and over 40 hours at the school. He did not tell us he was joining because he knew I would be against it. I feel he should first finish college and get his degree and then join.

  1. No can`t back out its a legal contract between your son and the army. Just support him in his decison

  2. Hi

Yes you can. Just go right into the local recruiter in the area and give them you sons name. Here comes the tricky part, these guys are used to people not standing up to them so you have to get in there face. Raise your voice and let them know you are his mommy and you will not allow your son who is a legal adult to do this. Say " Get your hands off my baby, he still breast feeds you know. I don't have time to go camping all the time he goes on these over nights. Plus I'm sure he is going to miss his boyfriend. Did he tell you they are planing a trip to California to get married." If you say all that in a loud voice similar in tone to moose calf being killed by a bear, then I guarantee he will be removed.

    Thank You

PS Don't forget to take the curlers out of your hair.

  3. First, he's in. Second, wow, you are narrow minded. The military will give him money to finish college when he gets out. Plus, with the training you get in the military, it will actually make it easier to be employed when his service is up, especially if he goes for a technology-related field.  Third, he's an adult and make his own decisions. Just be supportive of his choice.  Must be pretty bad at home if he felt he had to hide this from you.

  4. What does this have to do with hockey?

  5. Nope. He's in.  Try to be supportive of him.  That's all you can do now.  To go against it will only make it harder on him, and with the state of the world these days, just joining already puts a great deal of pressure and worry on him.
